Women of the world! STOP THE TRAFFIK invites you on a journey to help prevent human trafficking internationally.
We are offering 8 – 12 days in India with the unique opportunity:
- To experience and contribute to STOP THE TRAFFIK’s preventative work in India
- To learn about human trafficking
- To put your experience into action on returning home
STOP THE TRAFFIK is partnering with Amor Ministries’ ‘Women of Strength’ program to provide this unique opportunity for 21 women.
Amid the chaos and charm of the streets of Mumbai and the contradictory calm of rural villages surrounding Bangalore you will meet people whose lives have been directly affected by trafficking. You will spend time and hear the stories of those working on the ground to protect those who are vulnerable.
The focus of the trip will be to witness and contribute to projects, whilst seeing the model of community action STOP THE TRAFFIK is developing to resource, equip and mobilise people to take action where they live. As appropriate, we will join groups in the actions and programs they are running: anything from educational workshops to awareness-raising flash-mobs!
We will break in to smaller groups – each accompanied by two staff — to meet with these people and projects. Most of those we meet will be women, and for cultural reasons it is most appropriate that the group be a women only group.
The trip is open to all women over the age of 18 (some exceptions may be made if accompanied by a parent) who complete the application process and are accepted. As Amor is a Christian-based organisation there will be a Christian faith component to the trip, including visiting faith groups and churches, bible discussions, worship and prayer. If taking part, you will need to be comfortable with participating in these aspects of the trip.
To register your interest in the trip please visit www.amor.org/wos. Please note that places are limited; applications close on 28 March 2013, or earlier if sufficient applications are accepted before this date.
