Eight people were convicted for human trafficking in New Jersey. For almost two decades, Allen Brown Jr., aka “Prince,” of Jersey City preyed on women at bus stations, train stations and night clubs, offering them a “taste on the good life”. He lured women into a life of prostitution and forced them to work off a “debt” of $1,000. Brown’s mother and niece were also indicted in connection with the human sex trafficking.

Britons may be contributing to child trafficking

More than a fifth of Britons may be contributing to child trafficking, regarding to a survey by ECPAT UK. People buying pirate DVDs or roses from street vendors could be supporting modern slavery. Justice campaigner found dead in trafficking related circumstances

A social worker from Manila, Philippines, who campaigned on behalf of human trafficking victims has been found dead. Finardo Cabilao had been working on a book about the trafficking of women in Malaysia for the purpose of prostitution.

The mayor of London wants phone box operators to fight human trafficking during the 2012 Olympic Games.

The mayor of London, Boris Johnson wants mobile phone operators to work with his office during the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games to fight human trafficking. At major sports events the number of known human trafficking victims has been known to double.

  1. Statements like “At major sports events the number of known human trafficking victims has been known to double” are plain irresponsible. The media on the mobile phones story widely reported that at the Athens Olympics the number of trafficking victims nearly doubled. It was wrong.

    The number of trafficking victims identified in the WHOLE of Greece in the WHOLE of 2004 increased by 95% on 2003. The number of such victims associated with the Olympics was zero.
