A tourist caught for human trafficking

Chin Fung Chu a 47 year old tourist guide pleaded not guilty to trafficking 26 people, including six minors from China.

Sunday Times found child labour in cosmetic factory

2009-07-24

An investigator for the Sunday Times found child labour in a cosmetic factory in India. Children as young as 6 were found working in mica mines in the jungles of Jharkhand, even though it is illegal in India to work if you are under 14. The German based Pharmaceutical firm Merck KgaA was at the heart of the scandal. The company supplies S Black, an organization that sells mica products to British manufactures like Tesco and Asda.

The first South East Asia Court of Women on HIV and Human Trafficking

The first South East Asia Court of Women on HIV and Human Trafficking has launched.

The Court of Women hears testimonies from the trafficked and sexually exploited. It is important that rights and gender aspects should be included, they said.

Hundreds of people from Botswana tricked into being trafficking in Canada.

2009-08-12

The Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) has cracked a network of international human trafficking, where people have been trafficked from Botswana to Canada. They have been forced into prostitution and forced labour.
