STOP THE TRAFFIK is excited to announce Trade, a gripping new film that exposes the ugly truths about the human trafficking trade through the moving story of a girl and young women in this dehumanizing predicament, and the boy and man who risk everything in the attempt to rescue them.
The characters of Trade negotiate their way through the unspeakable terrain of the sex trade “tunnels” between Mexico and the United States. From the barrios of Mexico City and the treacherous Rio Grande border, to a secret internet sex slave auction and stash house in suburban New Jersey, this brutal global underworld is brought to London with hard-hitting drama and emotion. It’s a place from which few victims ever return.
The debut American feature of one of Germany’s leading young directors, Marco Kreuzpaintner, Trade is produced by Roland Emmerich and Rosilyn Heller from a screenplay by Oscar® nominee Jose Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries) that was based on the New York Times Magazine cover story The Girls Next Door written by Peter Landesman. Trade opens in the UK on Friday 12 December 2008.
